Corazon Community Services
Safety & Violence Prevention. Corazón has long had a commitment to the reduction of violence in Cicero through peace-oriented work, such as the Peace Movement; our Break the Violence project, funded through the Town of Cicero; and our monthly gang tattoo removal service. Additionally, our FUERZA Youth Center keeps youth off the streets during after-school hours.

The Dovetail Project, created in 2010, is dedicated to giving young fathers a chance to break the cycle. We provide young African American and Hispanic fathers – ages 17 to 24 – with the skills and support they need to be better fathers for their children and better men in their communities.

Future Ties
Future Ties provides homework help and after school activities five days per week, as well as a summer camp when school is not in session. The program for older students includes preparation for college, including SAT and ACT tutoring, and job skills training. Future Ties runs a mentorship program for 50 eighth graders who attend the Dulles School of Excellence.

Mujeres Latinas en Acción (Mujeres), a bilingual/bicultural agency, empowers Latinas by providing services which reflect their values and culture and being and advocate on the issues that make a difference in their lives. Mujeres has developed a comprehensive array of social services and advocacy initiatives that promote non-violence, reproductive health and leadership development. Mujeres offers services that support all programs, which include general intake, volunteer training and childcare. Childcare is provided for clients while they are receiving services.

The resiliency services team is composed of two departments: victim advocacy and case management. Victim advocates walk with families and individuals directly affected by violence. They attend to the physical, emotional, financial, and spiritual well-being of victims on their journey towards healing. Case managers work with participants to achieve their employment, educational, and housing goals. They provide connections to community resources, intense engagement, advocacy, and mentorship.

The Safety Box
The Safety Box ® CIC programs are accredited through AQA and are a refined system of training and development in helping young people and young adults develop important skills such as leadership, communication, team working, presentation, high risk conflict resolution, violence reduction, personal development and problem solving.
